MEET OUR TEAM
Dundee Automotive was founded by Randy Klemm over 15 years ago. Randy, his son Greg and office manager Patrick make up the expert team at Dundee Automotive. Randy began his auto career in the 70s and Greg started to follow in Randy’s footsteps at age 16. Patrick has over 10 years of experience in wholesale auto parts.
Randy’s automotive career began at Northwest Volkswagen while in high school, where he decided early on that repairing cars was going to be how he would make his livelihood. He moved on from this early beginning to a number of dealerships in the late 1970’s including Wilmette Motors, Loeber Motors in Chicago and Knauz Auto Park in Lake Bluff. He spent the 1980’s and early 90’s working at Motor Werks in Barrington where he was chosen to be a factory trained Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche technician. For most of the time, he was an on-call roadside Mercedes-Benz tech 24-hours a day. After Motor Werks, Randy switched from German automobiles to Japanese with significant stops at Arlington Lexus and Bredeman Lexus. In 2003, ready for a new challenge, Randy purchased our building and opened Dundee Automotive, which proudly thrives in service to our customers and community today.
Greg, Randy’s oldest son and business partner, followed in his father’s footsteps working at his first dealership, Arlington Lexus, at the early age of 16. After high school, Greg headed to the west coast working at Lexus of Santa Monica. After a short stay, he came back to the Chicago suburbs and took a job at Bredeman Lexus where he moved to increasing responsibilities from new and used car prep and certification, to warranty administration and lastly as a service advisor. He left Bredeman Lexus in 2003 to open the family business with Randy at Dundee Automotive where he has been the lead tech for the past 15 years.
Having spent almost 10 years in the wholesale automotive parts business, our office manager Patrick joined our team in the summer of 2015 when looking for a new challenge. While in sales, he spent a lot of time in repair shops all over the Chicago suburbs while visiting customers on sales calls and was able to take a lot of what he observed and learned, both good and bad, and apply it to how we do–and don’t do–business here at Dundee Automotive.
